Painting Classes


Prepare to visit, laugh, paint, and make happy paint marks on a canvas of your in your own unique art style. Project will be simple. The coffee and tea will be hot. The event will use mainly acrylic paint, but other mediums may slip onto the canvas to spark the creative side of your ability to paint. Events for Canvas, Coffee, and Tea will be held in the morning hours.



Enjoy a step-by-step instructed painting class while drinking your favorite wine. You bring your favorite wine and we will provide the glasses , corkscrews, and munchies. All necessary materials are provided while you enjoy a step-by-step instructed painting event. No experience or thinking required, just fun. You will leave with a one of a kind creation and be ready to come back again. Remember: this is art for fun and not fine art. Be on the lookout for Wine, Dine & Design Events where all of the above applies along with a meal.

Get Messy: Art Journaling and Mixed Media

Art journaling is the process of expressing yourself through art. There is no wrong way to art journal which makes it a safe place to explore your thoughts. The process is about the outcome. Art journaling is a great way to practice and experiment with color and mixed media items like photographs, scrapbook paper, stencils, and whatever else can be thought of create with. You will be amazed at the inspiration that flows from your heart, to your hands, and on to the paper. We will experiment with different techniques making backgrounds in a paint journal to put your words on once a month. Simply put, the arts offer a doorway into the world of a book or text. Research has shown that links between literacy and arts for children who can’t see text visually in their mind, and have difficulty feeling text in an emotional way will bridge that gap by combining reading and art together increasing fluency and comprehension. Besides this positive relationship, the two combined together develop fine motor coordination, provides self-regulation, and boosts self-esteem creating bonds through fun. Inspire your child to become a life-long reader through the arts by having them attend a Books & Brushstrokes painting event where a book is read and discussed. Following the discussion, a paint related activity will follow.

Books & Brushstrokes events are broken into two age categories:

Little LitWits is appropriate for children from age 5 to 8 years of age. Parents are required to stay with their children and model the love of reading and art.

LitWits is appropriate for children 9 to 12 years of age. Parents are encouraged to stay with their children to model the love of reading and art.
